Reasons for people selling their sites just get weirder and weirder.
I’m forever moaning that you should never ask a seller why they’re selling the site. People expecting to instantly uncover some hidden revelation that will jeopardise the sale will usually be left disappointed when they receive the stock answer of “I’m selling to dedicate more time to other projects”.
But sometimes, if we’re lucky, we might get one of these gems.
The following are the strangest reasons for a seller selling their site, mostly taken from Flippa, Digital Point and a few unnamed Blackhat forums.
I assume some of them were meant in good humour, but it’s scary to know that some of them, probably aren’t!
“It was a choice between the house, the dog, the wife or the site and one of them had to go :)”
“… as I cant afford to keep this site running any longer”
(The headline of the site was “Automated Income Gold mine. $2,400 net profit”)
“I am a college student and I don’t have the time to place orders and answer emails”
(note the comment below in Revenue Details!?!)
“I selling the site so I can live the american dream”
(Final Bid Price: $60)
“I’m selling the site to raise money to buy a course on buying and selling websites”
“My parents are making me sell the site to spend more time on school work”
(At time of sale the site seemed (genuinely) to be making over $3,000 per month!)
“…and I have recently joined a religion that requires me to part with my material goods”
“I’m leaving the Internet marketing industry to follow my passion in street magic”
Some days, you’ll find a great internet business and some days you’ll just be entertained. Either way, you’ve got to love this industry!
