The concept of buying and selling Online business has been around since the early days of Internet. Calling it a ‘new’ or ‘growth’ market seems odd, but in many ways it is, simply because there is so much growth still to come.
Over the last few years we’ve seen a few good dedicated forums and marketplaces appear, and I’ve recently come across three that are showing some promise.
Sitepaw
It’s still early days and difficult to tell if this new marketplace will cut it in a very difficult industry to enter, but the site is showing a lot of potential and I’m really routing for them to do well.
On checking the established sites section, good listings are a little thin on the ground right now, but having watched it for the last month or so, I get the impression this is changing as they seem to have a constant supply of new listings.
I think another marketplace will be great for the niche; I only hope the owners exercise strict quality control with their listings and never sacrifice quality for quantity.
Flipping Planet
I came across FP after a brief chat with the founder, who I know from a similar project he successfully flipped late last year. Although it’s only been up a few weeks now, the conversation is lively and goes quite in depth on topics like auction tactics and trading strategy. The two founders are both ‘veterans’ of Flippa, and seem quite willing to answer questions and chime in on new discussions, so there’s ample opportunity to learn here as well as contribute.
Website Properties
This technically isn’t a new site (in fact I believe it’s been around for quite a while!), but it has recently had a facelift and there seems to be a small campaign happening around it. As a result, this is fast becoming THE place to find higher tier listings, especially if you’re after a company with both off and online involvement.
I was a little dissappointed to see a turnkey site on here for $7,900, but the occassional crazy valuation doesn’t detract from the overall consistent high quality of listings – definetly one to watch even if you’re not at this end of the market.
